Seoul-id Trip Day 4.2: Gyeongbokgung

August 17, 2014
2:00PM KST

From Euljiro-Sam Ga Station (Blue Line), we transferred to the Orange Line and went down on Gyeongbokgung Station, From the station's name you can already tell our next stop. :)

For this trip, this is the only palace we visited out of the 5 Royal Palaces in Seoul. Gyeongbokgung (also called: Northern Palace) is the main palace back in Joseon Dynasty.

Entrance fee only costs 3,000₩/person (Php 122), but if your group consists of 10 pax or more you'll receive a discount (2,400₩ - Php98/person).

Take note that the palace is close every Tuesday, and for the rest of the week it opens from 9:00AM-4:00PM (except for Winter Season, it usually closes an hour earlier).

*Taking photo with the guards is not allowed I think? But here's a sneaky photo. SORRY!*

You can join Walking Tours for FREE :) Below's the schedule:
English: 11AM / 1:30PM / 3:30PM
Japanese: 10AM / 12:30PM / 2:30PM
Chinese: 10:30AM / 1PM / 3PM

We opted to go by ourselves and roamed the palace freely :) Also take note that near the ticket station you can try wearing Hanbok for FREE! (Oh I love South Korea, there are so many FREE things and don't forget the "SERVICE" for every road side shops and restaurants)

*Facing this side, the ticket booth is on the left while the free hanbok wearing station's on the right*

After the tour inside the palace we went to the Hanbok wearing station but to our dismay it was already closed :( We should've tried it first before walking around. Oh well, there is always a next time, probably in Fall or Spring season.

We were supposed to go to Gwanghwamun Square after the palace but we already lost our energy. Instead, we went back to the subway to go to our next destination: Bukchon Hanok Village and Insadong.

HOW TO GET HERE:
