Seoul-id Trip 3.2: Myeongdong + Namsan Tower

August 16, 2014
3:30PM

Myeongdong screams shopping and shopping we must! We split ourselves into two groups, Me & Lyka went first to Lotte Young while Kekx, Gi, Lulur and Vlad went around Myeongdong. We agreed to meet at the area in front of Lotte Young around 5pm or 6pm to go to Namsan Tower together.

We took the (fake subway station) underground pass going to Lotte Young. This mall houses the SM Town store, I think the store is really huge that it took two floors of the space. We only took photos with EXO's photo in the store but we didn't bought anything hahaha!

Our target was to buy the version 4 lightstick of Bigbang in Khos. Lyka wasn't supposed to buy one but she broke her version 3 during YG Family Concert. LOL.

We were supposed to buy the black version but it was out of stock during that day. Arggg.

We went back to the underground pass once we bought the light stick and went looking for the known Kpop shop that sells the cheapest merch and albums, but it was nowhere to be found! We went around for at least 30 minutes until we decided to give up and head back up. And there we found Kekx and Lulur excitingly told us that Etude was having a face mask sale!

I wasn't able to take a photo of the sale because shopping is a serious business for me, LOL. Must not lose focus. What I learned about SALE in Korea is that not all branches offers the same SALE, in fact the face mask sale was only available in that particular store.

It was a BUY 10 GET 10 promo for face mask for only 9,000₩ - 10,000₩ (Php 367 - 407). PHP 407 for 20 face masks!!! UNBELIEVABLE! So I decided to buy three packs of 10s, and I got 30 face masks for FREE! KKKKKKK! So if I were to divide this amazing deal, each pack now roughly costs PHP 20! WOW!

I was so happy walking towards our meeting place, but that happiness started to fade when I realized that we got lost looking for the Namsan Tower. LOL. The reason was we took the wrong underground pass (the one near Lotte Young), thinking it was the real Myeongdong Station.

It took us 45 minutes circling around the fake underground station. LOL. We looked at the directions again and it said that once we exit the subway we can see Pacific Hotel. Vlad was already telling that he saw that hotel in another direction a while ago, but we did not believe him at first. LOL.

With the sun almost setting down and our feet crushing from tiredness, we finally decided to follow Vlad's direction. And Voila! We found the correct subway, and we can easily spot the Pacific Hotel.

FYI: The Myeongdong Subway Station is near Uniqlo and Nature Republic. The underground pass we went earlier was just a plain underground pass, hahaha and it is near Lotte Young.

It was an UPHILL climb to get to the cable car that will take you to Namsan Tower, the queue also was also long during that time. We fall in line for about an hour before we got inside the cable car. A round trip ride costs 8,500₩ (Php 347). You can opt to climb the stairs that leads to the tower, but we no longer have an energy to do that. (plus we're also lazy.haha)

We reached the top around 8:00PM and the tower looks really beautiful at night. If only we've arrived earlier we could've witnessed the sunset at the top. Too bad, there is always a next time though.

Namsan Tower is also famous for it's love locks, I didn't brought any because I'm not with Tabi. HAHAHAHA! There are locks for sale in the area but it costs roughly 10,000₩ (Php 398), so most couples bring their own locks :)

We no longer went to the top of the tower because it was already getting late and while roaming around the area we saw some cool spots that calls for photo op!

We thought that were no longer lines in the cable car since it was already late, but we were as usual, wrong again, hahaha!

The road we took walking back to Myeongdong is more bearable than the one we took earlier. So if you're facing Pacific Hotel, REMEMBER to take the street on the right, but if you're into steep climbing roads then you can challenge yourself by taking the left one.

Shops in Myeongdong's almost closing, it was already pass 10:00PM, but the crowd does not get thinner and we haven't had our dinner (hahaha pinilit ko talaga ipasok yung rhyme na 'to).
